In this article I want to walk you through the number one thing that will have a massive impact on the results you get directly from Instagram.
A lot of people out there will tell you that this is not the most important thing and that you can actually get results without this. That you can have a successful business without this, and it doesn’t really play that much of a major role.
I’m going to disagree, and actually I think that doing this one thing and focusing on this one thing is going to be the number one factor in you having continued success and expansive and scalable success,
As you start to grow your business using Instagram, what is that one thing that I’m talking about.
Well, it’s the size of your audience.
The bigger the audience, the more opportunity that you have to grow and scale to reach a larger audience and ultimately increase the profits you generate from Instagram.
There are Five Profit Centres on Instagram
There are five major ways that you can start to generate sales immediately, start to generate sales directly or use these particular areas as lead generation for your business, and it doesn’t matter whether you’re an experienced business owner, or if you’re totally new to business and you want to get started for the very first time.
It doesn’t matter if you’re totally new to Instagram, or if you’ve been using the platform, millions of millions of tablets and millions maybe a little bit excessive but hundreds of times or if you’ve got hundreds of followers 1000s of followers, whatever it might be okay, it really doesn’t matter on your level of experience within business your level of experience within Instagram it purely is about the implementation, and whether you are getting yourself in a position to do these things.
The number one factor that ultimately are the new online currency if you like, that ultimately impacts on the size of the results and the scale of the results that you can expect is the size of your audience on Instagram, the number of followers that you attract into your account.
There are many people out there that will say, as I’ve just said ‘You can have a business from Instagram with 1000 followers or less than 1000 followers, you can make sales on the platform with less than 1000 followers’ and you can.
However, here’s my question – are we going to generate more sales with 100 authentic followers, or 500 authentic followers, or 1000 authentic followers, or are we more likely to generate more sales with 10,000, authentic followers, or 100,000, authentic followers, or even a million real genuine engaged authentic followers.
Okay, and it’s an obvious thing. It absolutely is.
And so the number one factor is the size of your audience and when we start to focus on growing our audience, then it opens up multiple opportunities to start generating an income with Instagram, and the five different profit centres, they’re all pretty straightforward.
The number one place and the first of these five profit centres, if you like where you can actually start to generate an income from Instagram is through your Instagram bio link.
1. The Bio Link
This is the link that you have in your bio, which allows you to, to redirect people generally, your followers, to your online store, your website, or to register for a training or for a phone call, whatever that specific processes that may be you use driving followers into your bio link, and naturally the more followers that you have every single time you post every single time you make comments in your stories and such.
Then you can drive those followers into the link in your bio, and it allows you to take people off the platform where you can then start to monetise using Instagram as the vehicle.
The second route to be able to do this, is when you get to your 10,000 followers,
2. Swipe Up.
Instagram unlocks a few different features depending on the size of your audience, whether you’re verified and a number of different factors, but one of the most easy to access, is the 10,000 follower swipe up.
When you hit 10,000 followers on Instagram you unlock the story swipe up, which means that within stories, you can get people to literally swipe up using their thumb, or using their finger!
This allows you to grab their attention, and you by getting them to swipe up, you can take them off the platform and into your online store, get them to register for a training, book in a phone call, or even visit your offline store (when we get back to the good old days), or actually whatever it might be that ultimately you’re looking to monetise.
So that’s the second way that you can monetise via Instagram, and you only get to unlock that feature when you get to 10,000 followers.
3. Influencer Opportunities
The third option that you’ve got is having the opportunity to be an influencer. And, influencer opportunities and possibilities mean you can start to monetise.
Now, immediately when you think of influencer, in my mind, I think beautiful people lying on the beach in, you know, shorts and bikinis and getting modelling contracts and all this kind of stuff or people posting pictures of their dogs and their handbag.
I think for the majority of people influencer in some ways, not always, has a bit of a negative connotation, which I think is a bit of a shame. The great thing is, is that there are influences in every single niche, every single industry every single business that you don’t have to choose to lie on the beach in a bikini to still be considered an influencer or to at least have influence over other people, where you share your suggestions, your thoughts, your opinions, your ideas and people take action based on that.
You can have influence in every different industry so it doesn’t matter whether you are in law – solicitor, if you’re a gym owner, if you are in yoga, if you are in crochet! Literally, whatever it might be. Every single space, every single niche, every single separate industry, you’ve have the opportunity to be considered as an influencer; and the bigger your audience, the more reach that you get, and the more opportunities that you start being offered influencer opportunities.
The top people of the world, for example Kylie Jenner, earn over a million dollars per post, but we’ve got clients we work with clients from as little as 14,000 who still get paid to post.
You don’t need millions and millions of followers, you can have 14,000 followers, and one of our clients actually had less than 1000 followers, when she started to get sent free things!
This can lead to paid to do promotions, where you get paid to recommend and refer other people’s products and search just by posting on Instagram.
Again, these things are only available as you start to grow your audience and start to grow your following, so yes you can generate an income and you can get results from Instagram with a smaller audience, but the number one currency online for you to success and continue to succeed is the size of your audience and the size of your following.
4. Direct Messages
The next one that’s available is really powerful – DM direct messages. The wonderful power of direct messages is that it’s a private conversation.
Yes, you can have groups and you can set up groups where you talk to multiple people at the same time, but ultimately, it is a private conversation. It’s a one to one conversation that you have with people. And the beauty of this is that because it’s private.
This is an opportunity where you can start to find out the problems your audience have, the challenges that they face, and discover if you can offer the solution to what they are looking to achieve.
The number one rule online is that we mark it publicly, and we sell privately. Nobody goes on social media to be sold to – market it publicly, sell privately.
That’s a whole other conversation and a whole other article, but direct messages allow you that private conversation and now direct messenger also has clickable links which opens up a whole new world.
Not only do we have clickable links inside direct messages, but also when you share a link which is clickable, there is a preview image. So a preview pops up, and the person who is receiving that message can see a preview of what is through the page. Why is this useful, I hear you ask! Well. that immediately takes away any kind of fear or any kind of doubt is this spam, or it’s a scam.
I don’t need to be worried about something that somebody is sending me so it immediately relaxes them.
It totally makes sense I can see that this web page is, for certain product, for a line of T shirts, for trainers, for handbags, for booking a phone call, for registering for a training, for booking a retreat, whatever it might be, but because a graphic shows up and an image shows up, it immediately allows people to just lower their guard again and feel a little bit more relaxed about having those conversations.
So, now you have 3 ways to move people away from Instagram and into a buying window – the clickable link in direct messages, the 10,000 followers swipe up and the clickable bio link these all allow you to send people off the platform, really, really quickly and really really easily.
5. The Shoppable Feed
The final option that you’ve got, and at the moment this is more suited to those of you in E-commerce. However, even if you’re not in E-commerce, I think this is extremely exciting. I’ll tell you why in just a moment.
On Instagram in 2021, we have the shoppable feed. The shoppable feed is where e-commerce products – makeup jewellery accessories, clothing, etc, and you can literally with a matter of a few clicks make a purchase directly through the Instagram platform.
Through lockdown (2020 and 2021!), more and more people become accustomed to purchasing online, we’ve been trained to buy online, and we feel more comfortable than we ever have done before parting with our credit card details online, because we’ve had to do that. Yes, we’ve been able to go for groceries and search but generally, the majority of purchases that we’ve had to make, if we’ve chosen to make them have been online, so we’ve become accustomed to it and become more comfortable with parting with our details.
Suddenly, we’re in a position where with this incredible connection Instagram is set up for us, a lot of E-commerce businesses can really benefit from the shoppable feed, where with the matter of a few clicks of your finger, people are taken through to a website where they can make a purchase, pretty much straight away.
Even if you don’t have e-commerce products, or even physical products that you’re shipping and sending I personally don’t, ours is an education business, so we have information products, but I still consider the shoppable feed has been a positive for my business, even though I can’t necessarily sell directly through there.
He shoppable feed shows that there are gradual steps in the evolution of Instagram and the way that people are using the platform to make purchases, and there’s absolutely nothing to say that within a few months time, maybe next year, whatever it might be that there’s not more scope for people to be able to purchase information products as well, and the more comfortable that the people become purchasing and making making purchases directly on the platform, then I fully expect that this is going to be the continuing trend as more and more people get comfortable, purchasing online.
So those are the five different profit centres, on Instagram.
The major player for you to have success in each of these areas is down to one thing, – the size of your audience. The bigger the audience, the bigger the following, (authentic, of course, genuine, real followers),, the more opportunities and the more profit centres are unlocked for you to be able to generate an income directly on this platform, and I can’t think of anything that’s more exciting right now, one platform which allows you multiple streams of income.
